G'day all, Deep into week two of your campervan road trip and still 700km off of Sydney. We should make it by Monday. Traveling by road you get some sense of how big this country is. In a week and a half we have traveled about 1500km. Some people do this kind of traveling for about half of their year. Normally of an elderly disposition they will migrate to preferred weather, thinking nothing of traveling from one side of the country to the other. There caravans and attached awnings will be filled with their entire homes. We have seen widescreen TV's shining through tent canvasses, ten metre aerials erected outside and people checking TV reception with the local tourist information! The BBQ is a nightly ritual. We get starred at and bypassed as the smell of our paneer curry or tuna pasta invades the stainless steels BBQ plates sizzling with meat. Over the past couple of nights we have dabbled a bit to ensure we do not die of campsite embarrassment. Our camper is a mere baked bean tin compared to our neighbors. Its name is "Sillage". Sillage is sci-fi urban chick who would appear to have done more miles than the car. Sprayed onto the sides Sillage if clearly open for offers. Sprayed on the back is some of her wit "Don't assume I am not into cheap and meaningless sex". This has caused mainly smiles, although in the Lutheran communities north of Adelaide we were run out of town in case we polluted the minds of youths. Since leaving Adelaide we snaked around the coast visiting the Sink Holes of Mount Gambier, two beautiful walks in the bush (saw an Echidna!), stopped off in Port Fairy, Warnambul, Ballarat, Melbourne and currently the other side of the Great Alpine Way in Bright. A delightful place were we have given up driving for a day. So far in Australia we have been to five wine areas and three on our travels. A completely free way to sample Australia's finest. An expensive habit was being being formed so now we just sample for free at the wineries and use the bottle shops to pick up the deals. It is good for the heart after all! We must say thanks to the Salvation Army who supplied us with some cheep blankets to make the nights more bearable. Onward to Sydney which we will make home for a week. Hope you are all well. Sidney and Sasha
