So I thought now would be a good time to update by blog once more for two reasons in particular.
1.) A variety of shannagans have occued over the past couple of days I deem worthy of reporting on.
2.) ROAD TRIP (excited much Laura?!?) starts next week therefore now seems to be the most sesible time to keep the blog up to date.
I left of last time trying to explain what the "Mid winter's dinner" event was and also expressing my deep worries of wearing an inappropate dress. Well, I had no worries there!! Many of the girls out did me on the "shortest dress competition". I was generally shocked! However, made me feel slightly better that i was wearing what was deemed an "flattering and apporpiate dress for the occasion". WAHOO! Go me! So yes, "Mid Winter's". I was sat on the top table with the staff members, board of govs and parents of the leavers. I was sat next to Glynes (a fellow matron who I have had many a conversation with debating what the Principal of the school would be like drunk) and a very nice parent called Gavin! A bit nervous at the time due to the formality of the evening I sat down and tried to keep myself to myself (I know what you're thinking "Sian, shy?!?!".) However, Gavin wasn't having any of this and before I knew it we were having a deep and fairly lengthy discussion on England and Hertfordshire. A full christmas dinner was served of chicken, ham, veggies etcetc. Then can pudding. Pavlova, chocolate moose and brandy snaps with creme. Then santas arrival. I must admitt it was the oddest experience being sat in a hall full of christmas decorations and christmas trees but then to enter SANTA! SANTA?!? IN THE MIDDLE OF SEPTEMBER?!?! OBSCENE!! I even got a present. A kinder egg. Thanks Santa. After dinner it was time to walk on over to the "Rec room" in KBH (the younger boarding house). This was to watch all year groups but on entertainment for the rest of the students and guests. To say the least, this was an interesting experience. Some of the girls really came out of the shells and some... well frankly... should have stayed in their shell. I don't think I've laughed so much since my arrival in Dunedin. It was a truely a greatly entertaining night. We had the usual embarassing tributes to the year 13s, a mock up of the MTV Music Video awards, a very different version of Cinderella and a variery of dances pieces. Along with this a acoustic performance by the twins of the boarding house who occasional busk in the town centre.
The next days came and went in a blink with bearly any time to regisiter the happenings. Before I knew it, I was invited out for a coffee with a fellow GAPper who gapped in England! 4 solid hours of talking commenced with the consumption of two hot chocolates. The next day we agreed to meet for a shopping trip and discuss my christmas travelling plans. After a fairly un sucessful but highly entertaining shopping trip and the disagreement over a fairly snazzy shirt (LUMBERJACK. Silly Kiwi) I set off back to the boarding house to book my travels for the christmas season.
EXCITING!!! Big Day Out! Rhythms and Vines (if i get tickets)! Touring the south part of the north island! TATTOO! Christmas with the gang in Timaru plus what ever shannagans happen inbetween! Needless to say we are EXTREMELY EXCITED!!
