Day 7 - XianThe end of week one saw the weather warming up at last.Today we went to see the Terracotta Warriors and decided to "go it alone" and make our own way there using public transport - after all we are on a 3 month trip and our sponsorship is limited!!Being the first day of the national holidays, "Golden Week", the whole of China had the same idea that visiting the Terracottas would be a great day out. After an hour queuing for the # 306 bus, we finally made it on and paid the 7 yuan fare (about 60p) for the 28km ride out east.It was mayhem on the roads and at times, cars were driving towards us on the wrong side of the dual carriageway. It is amazing that there are so few accidents although we did see one man punch the driver of a bus that had hit his car.The Terracottas were only discovered in 1974 and they are still excavating, unearthing hundreds more warriors and their chariots.Despite the crowds and the custom pushing and shoving, we still managed to get up close to the 2,000 year old life size relics. The sheer scale of the pits and the numbers of soldiers was amazing.
