The photo isn't Franz Josef but nevermind!
Tomorrow we are doing an ice climb on Franz Josef which should be great fun, but which I'm sure requires a far higher level of fitness than I currently possess! Oh well!
The south island is especially stunning, and the weather so far has been pretty brilliant. We spent a day in Nelson in Abel Tasman National Park on a nice beach having rented out a shoddy but epic Nissan Bluebird, which was good fun but dampened somewhat by the volume of sandflies that proceeded to eat us!
On our way out of Nelson we stopped for lunch in Nelson Lakes Park - or something like that - by a beautiful but freezing lake, as we found out when jumping in. Brilliant photos though.
We had our stop at the infamous 'Poo Pub' last night, and had a lovely meal for 10 dollars, but found that the evening is somewhat overated - the 84 year old owner Les is made out to be an absolute legend, but actually turned out to be a bit of a grumpy old sod in our experience. The theme was S & M - we were allowed to interpret that as we liked, so Harry, Fe, Dan and I went as a four pack of softmints, crafting a brilliant outfit out of cardboard boxes, a blue tarpaulin, paper, string, sellotape and foil. Picture should follow at some point.
Dan and I also did a bit of Jetboating which was reasonably fun and exactly what we expected - nothing amazing but better than sitting in a hostel!
Will update with more news when i can think of any - oh, and was gutted to miss the snow at home!
Hope everyone is well.
Julia, I have spoken to Fe about his lack of input in to this but with little response!
