Currently in Jaipur, after a long but fairly civilised bus journey, with Fe sleeping for most of it stretched out across the back 4 seats! We have got to know our group a little better now, they are all very nice other than those mentioned in previous blog - i respect that i should be a little more careful about what i say - and we are far more positive about this trip now.
We've both given almost all of our clothing in to be washed at our current hotel - something like 38 items between us - hopefully it will not be destroyed or resized otherwise we'll be stuck in the same clothes for 4 months!
As for the Everest flight the other day, we were lucky to get off the ground; it was seriously misty and the flight was delayed from 7 until 10 - with numerous other flights being cancelled - but we eventually managed to depart. Managed to get some decent photos and footage from our miniscule plane, holding just 20 of us, in rows of 1 on either side, all of us with a window seat. The sheer scale of the mountains was incredible; how anyone manages to summit Everest and survive is beyond me! So all in all was a good experience, definitely pleased i did that. Fe meanwhile enjoyed his lie in!
Our last evening in Kathmandu was very enjoyable. Our guide took us to his favourite restaurant/bar; Rum Doodle, an Everest-themed restaurant. The live music was good, our steak was rather disappointing considering the price we paid for it, but fun was had by all. There was also an 'Everest Summiters Club' board on one of the walls, with the signatures of those who had completed the task - actually very inspiring! Will get some photos up of the place soon.
After giving a little presentation to our leader, we moved on to a couple more places, both with more live music, before calling it a day and saying goodbye to the rest of our group.
Our hotel in Agra was surprisingly nice, and having a costa above it was an unexpected bonus. Going there 3 times in the space of about 4 hours was perhaps a little excessive though, and the coffee did Fe no favours in getting to sleep!
Will keep updating this as much as possible, though the general itinery is temples, forts, temples and forts so it may not be particularly interesting! will do my best to entertain though, without bringing any court cases about!
