left Luang Prabang by the VIP bus (VIP because it had a toilet) and headed for vientiane. was a bit scary as i dont think big buses should be on narrow winding mountain roads. we left at 9 and stopped for lunch about 2. buffet lunch in what looked like someones living room, which mainly consisted of rice.
got back on the bus, and stopped at vang vieng to drop most of the passengers off. shame we didn't have enough money to stop as the "tubing" which sounds like the thing to do whilst in laos sounds good. but onwards we traveled, we finally reached our stop 9 hrs later at vientiane.
Vientiane is a lot bigger than Luang prabang, but there isn't as much to do if that makes sense. Everything is a lot more spaced out, and hasn't got the holiday feel to it) It has got some nice temples and monuments to visit (if your into that kind of thing?)
Cycling tour there wasn't much of a choice of things to do in Vientiane so we booked to do a tour of the place by bicycle. We must have been mad, it was boiling hot and the roads are crazy. I dont think anyone takes any tests out here and just makes up the road rules as they go along! no one stops for red lights, they drive on the pavement, go anyway they like on the road, and ride with a family of 4 on one moped!!! The tour went well we didn't die on the roads and we got to see some MORE temples and stupas and buddhas, but also had a tour guide to tel us all about it!! we had free food with it aswell!
