So I took myself off to a lovely beach resort for a few days to finish recovering from my food poisoning and I think that I deserved it after all of that. I've got a single room that's basic but nice. I forgot what it's like to have a room to yourself, it's so nice. lets just hope that I don't get too used to it lol! The hostel that I'm staying in is really friendly and has a kitchen! Whoop whoop finally I can cook for myself.
The first day I just spent my time settling in. There was also a visit from a 6month old monkey who I stayed around to say hello too before I went off exploring into the town. She was so cute and her name was Mary Jane. so friendly too! After a short play and grabbing some lunch I wandered into the main town and checked out the main beach. In the evening I just had an early night.
My first full day in Langkawi was again spent on the beach. I had a migrane but was determined that I wasn't going to miss out on the sunshine and thought that I can just sleep on the beach as long as I take my tablets. It was such a nice day! That was untill the evening at least when I got stuck in the shop where I was buying things for my dinner. When it rains here in Malaysia it really rains. i had to wait about half and hour before it had calmed down enough to walk back to my hostel. After cooking a myself a lovely dinner I got chatting to a few of the others staying in the hostel and went for a drink with them whilst they had dinner. i say drink but I had a lassi! When I was sat at the restaurant next door to the hostel the couple I had met in Penang had come to find me and say hello. They had arrived on the island that day and had found out where I was staying which was really nice. So overall it was a good day.
The second day unfortunately wasn't so nice. It rained for the best part and was cloudy for the rest so no beach for me. Instead i went to see if i could book a ticket for the Cameroon highlands. Unfortunately the travel agents was shut but I did bump into the couple from Penang again and all got into a taxi to investigate the other side of the island although there wasn't much to see here. When we got back though the travel agents was open but there was no tickets left for the Cameroon highlands : ( so I've slightly changed my plans and have decided to go to Kuala Lumpa first.
I spent the rest of the day hanging around my hostel, watching a bit of telly, drinking tea and generally having a good chin wag with people. If I had more time i would've been happy to stay here as the hostel had such a homely vibe.
