Hey everyone, sorry that it's been a while since I updated. This computer / internet is incredibly slow so again there are no photos yet as I think it would take aty least 24hours to load them.
Anyway onto what I've been upto. I had one mopre day in Delhi doing a little bit more sight seeing but this time I had some company and I finally rode a tuk tuk which are great fun! In the evening on Tuesday we took a 20hour sleeper train upto Jaiselmer (the golden city). The train journey wasn't actually too bad as it allowed us to get to know everyone better and we also slept in the middle plus it was air conditioned.
Once we arrived we checked into the most amazing hotel, it was beautiful and had a swimming pool that you could order food and drink too, it was so hot that we just litterally sat in the pool the whole afternoon. In the eveing our guide took us to the lake that was once the only water supply for the people of this city, the buildings that surround it are lovely so I hacve some nice photos of this. We then went for an amazing dinnetr on arooftop restaurant that had a view of the fort lit up.
Our first full day in the golden city we went into the town in the fort and went around some of the temples here. A local family also invited us up for Chi and so that we can experience some of the amazing views from their rooftop. The afternoon was again too hot to do anything so we went back to the pool. At 5 though we had to be ready for the jeeps to take us to the Thar Desert.
The Thar Desert is currently the highlight of my trip. We all rode camels into the duenes where we sat down to watch the sunset (although the actual sunset was a bit of a letdown) but I got to see loads of dung beatles which I'm suppried to say are very cute! And I found it really funny how they fight over the dung. It was so peacefull where we were I kept having to pinch myself at how lucky I was. After the sunset we took the camels back to our campsight.
This was camping in style. We had beds, an ensuite bathroom and an outside swimming pool! I felt very spoilt.
For dinner we were entertained with traditional music and dancing, the women even dragged us all up at one point but we weren't very good. The dancers though were amazing one of them balanced a pint of beer on her head without it dropping or spilling a drop! One of the girls that I'm travelling with (Valentina) knows how to bollywood dance so she taught us some moves. Apparently I was very funny! Janine has a video which I think will end up being tagged on facebook so don't worry you will get to see it at some point. We just chilled out for the rest of the eveing.
We went back to our hotle in the moring, freshened up and then me and a few others went to the folk museum by the lake which was such a bargain at only 20 rupees! The man showed us round his small museum that his father had created and he told us so much history about the area, the people, the colours and their significance. He even told us the reasons behind why the Karma Sutra existed. He told us so much that it would take me ages to type it all as he was with us for 1hr 30mins (roughly). He didn't even want a tip at the end so we spent a bit of money in his shop. He was just so happy to pass on his knowledge. We were then going to find the internet but again it was too hot to do anything so we went to sit by the pool. We all grabbed an early night as we needed to be up at 4.30 this morning to catch an 8hr bus ride to Jodhpur which is where I am now. So you all should be upto date. Hopefully I will get faster internet next time so I can upload some photos xxx
