Right lets bring you up to date. U will have to bear with me tho' and forgive my mispellings, I am rather hungover and had only 2 hours sleep last night.
OK, so I left Chiang Mai on Friday morning, on a 6 hour mini bus journey on these awful windy roads. On the journey I met 2 Dutch girls, we stayed together for the Laos border crossing which was painless and quick. The other side we had a coach waiting ready for the 15 hour bus journey to Luang Prabang. At 1st I got 2 seats to myself which I was well pleased about, and then this local Laos woman joined me for about 10 hours worth - travelling through the night. 2 hours into my journey my iPod died, now this might sound like a nightmare, but had this not happened I would have missed out on the Laos ballads that was blearing out from the speakers for 15....15 hours... i knew the words by the end of it and even had my favourite. I think the ballads was putting the lady next to me in the mood, as i woke up to find her spooning me and again with ehr head on my shoulder and my head on her head... cute. The Laos roads are awful - massive craters in the road, all up and over mountains so every road in one long continuous 'S' bend and a drop downt he moutain. thankfully I managed to get about 4 hours sleep.
As morning came, I met these 4 Welsh girls from Cardiff and decided to join them to their hostel where we shared a room. They are really lovely girls and feels like I have known them for years. 3 are 23 and 1 is 30.
That night we went to a bar for some food and met a few others.... I was so tired plus I had had a beer, that I decided to leave them to go to the disco while I went to bed. It was SOOO embarrassing... (Jen u will love this) of all the times i had a room on my own or shared with Melissa, it was when I was in a dorm with 7 others that I decided to sleep walk..... TWICE!!! i thought i was trapped under floor boards at the elephant park and was banging on the walls, shouting hello hello, who's there? i came to, to see i was still in room on my own, thankfully, then an hour later i did it again, witha full bloody room and one of the girls was s***ting herself as I jumped out of bed in a panic, shouting help..... HOW EMBARRASSING!!! thankfully, i had my clothes on this time. :)
Next day we all decided to rent bikes and cylce the "45min' ride to this waterfall, this guy from the hostel, 21 year old Dian joined us. This 45 min bike ride turned into 2 1/2 hours, it is something u learn here, they say 10 min - it is 1 hour, It was soo hot and all up and down hill.. we gave up after 10 miles and the truck came top pick us up.... the boys who came to get us joined us at the waterfall and brought us lunch - theya re so sweet. I fell off my bike twice in the road... again so embarassing - i could feel myslef toppling over ans my front wheel was swerving uncontrollably, which made me laugh more and more and then I fell, knob.
that night we were all so tired we had an early night. And then the next night, last night 3 of us went to meet this couple from England for some drinks which turned into an all nighter, went tot eh local disco for locals, hilarious and didn't get to bed until 5am after sitting outside at the hostel chat ting - was up at 7am this morning and had to endure a 6 hour, windy bus journey up and over mountains with a hangover to Vang Vieng. Hangover + travel sickness = LeAnne spewing on the roadside... twice.. still a little delicate but not ill.
IO am not drinking now for a while, got it our of my system and the heat doesn not make the day after an enjoyable experience. Tomorrow we are going tubing.
I love Laos - Luang Prabang is gorgeous, lovely people and very chilled. So scenic aswell, I prefer LP to Vang Vieng, which I think is purely here for tourist to go tubing. The norm is to get pink eye from the tubing, so I will keep u posted, but I bloody hope not!! 2 girls I am with have it already and it is contagious, drops seem to sort it out.
we are leaving here on Thursday and heading for Vientiane, where the girls will then make their way over land to Cambodia - but I am going to fly - a little expensive - but I can't take another Laos bus journey from hell. We will then hopefully meet in Cambodia as one of the girls birthday is the same day as mine, if we don't then I will celebrate it at the orphanage!!!!
soi guys, this is my latest installment and u are now up to date - i can't upload pics for some reason - so i will try in the next place. Miss u all, but having fun and am happy!!! Although this is only my 3rd week.
Until we meet again x x x x x x x x x x x x
