Today I ticked another place off my bucket list - Lake Como. There was a bus load of us and in just over an hour we were at the town of Como where we had about an hour to wander around, have a coffee etc. We then got on the boat that took us around the massive Lake - about 2 hours or more. It was just stunning. There was low cloud on the mountains but it dissipated as we went along and certainly didn't detract from the scenery. We were told we were very lucky that they were having an unseasonal October and that it should be colder - we had about 24 degrees. (They also said that within 48 hours they were expecting 'Russian weather' with temps below zero overnight - good timing for us). George Clooney's house was pointed out to us - someone was home but it was probably the caretaker! We also saw fabulous villas that have been used in movies and others owned by famous Italian families. I must have taken about 200 photos - so many beautiful villas and numerous towns all around the lake. We got off at Bellagio and had 2 1/2hrs free time so I first stopped for lunch and sat outside of course to admire the view. Fabulous ravioli with shaved black truffles - not a cheap meal but if I was going to lash out anywhere I wanted it to be there. I then wandered the narrow lanes looking at the little shops and before I knew it we were back on a ferry to go across to the other side to the return to Milan by bus. An awesome day.
