Sinead & Pa's Travels
Second day of the bus got the bus super early and went to smelly Roturua/ Rottenrua before passing through Matamata - you might know it as hobbiton in Lord of the Rings. Anyways Roturua smells like rotten eggs or farts. It's a geothermal area where there's boiling mud pools and so smelly sulphur dioxide gas steaming up wherever you wander. Went to a Maori village in the eve to see their traditional dancing, the Haka and had a traditional diner called a Hangi where the meal is steamed in the ground on hot rocks! It was interesting but the shows in Fiji were way more impressive and cheaper! The bus driver was weird and tried to make Pa and I sing an Irish song for ages and stopped the bus and everything! He did show us how to say hi in a Maori way - where you say Kia Ora and touch each others noses twice.
