Today we took 2 local (50 yr old!) buses to Air Keroh - a park/lake some 30-40 mins away. We went via Melaka Sentral bus station which was busy but not as busy as when we came from KL during Ramadan! The bus driver dropped us in Air Keroh - but after asking a local security guard we had to walk some 1.5km+ in the baking 30+ degree heat on the main Malaysian roads to get there. On arrival it was deathly quiet and the customer service staff had no maps - we walked in regardless - but with no maps or directions or useful signs it was hit and miss. We walked around for 1-2 hrs in the 'cleared' rainforest and enjoyed the exercise and quiet - but we both longed for the Borneo Rainforests again..... Anyhow on our return we walked along the main highway some 2-2.5km as there appeared to be no buses for some hours - as it was one did come along and we took the ride (1.6RM - 30p each!) in the rear of the bus. Again the 50+ bus chugged with its ripped seats, no supension and graffiti daubed interior and - of course - open windows to keep the heat down.. a little.. When we reached the station the driver drove full speed (20-30mph) over the speed bumps and we were both thrown up - off our seats and down with a hard thud - the pain in our backs and innards together with the shock was unpleasant. When we stopped we gingerly climbed from the bus still aching. I took the opportunity to get weighed and I have lost.. well wait and see what I lost.... We got back to the hotel OK though and relaxed in the A/C room! In the evening we grabbed a lovely Indian meal - Sheryl had banana leaf curry and veg. with dahl. We shared lamb/chicken curries. I had Tandoori set with Garlic naan and some mango lassis to wash it down.... booootiful!!! Then a walk into a much quieter town as most have gone home and we grabbed a cool drink in a local open air bar/restaurant. After reminiscing about the last 3 months and reliving magic moments (which we will share with you all if you are interested when we see you?) we chatted about plans for our next adventures.... Then we grabbed a Trishaw driver and took a relaxing ride back to the hotel - to the sound of Boney-M's 'Daddy Cool' and 'No woman no cry' - priceless. Our driver then took some photos (see the Album!). Enjoy and speak soon.....
