Today my journey through Romania ends, and as I look back upon the three days I've spent here, it's amazing how different the country changes the more you travel through. The contrast between Bucharest and Brasov is incredible, granted any city will look a lot different to the capital; London is nowhere near like lets say Windsor, but it's a lot easier to gain some kind of relationship wiith a smaller city than it is to embrace a bustling capital.
Brasov is in a league of its own. From the tacky Brasov hollywood sign to the old burnt down Black Church which is now a pure white building, (yes the irony was the first thing that struck me), Brasov seems to have its own character. It's quite interesting, the city holds to its name the first and oldest Education Institution in Romania, which in its entirety looks amazing.
Brasov is cosily situated between 4 castle cities. Bran, where castle dracula is located, Rashnov a classic vintage medival fortress, Sinaia, an amazing fortress town which unfortunately neither Mike and I could find after getting lost in the Mountains and finally Sighisoara, the birth place of Vlad Tepes. It's amazing the way the hub of everything up north here seems to be in Brasov, and I truly do see myself returning.
There is so much history here in Romania, and so far here we have met some incredible people. Alex and Katy, a couple from Brighton who are taking a 8 month road trip to Cape Town. Josh an American who is moving here to Brasov for a Year. It's incredible, and there is so much I still want to see.
