Hey guys
So you've probably realised I'm writing this from the UK! The last week & a half of my trip was so non stop I didn't get time to do my blogs! So it's catch up time…
Vic & I arrived in San Francisco at 6am on Monday 28th April. We got a taxi to our hostel & kipped in the TV room until we could check in. Then we attempted to make pancakes! A lot of the US hostels did this..free pancakes but you have to make them yourselves! Our first effort looked like an omelette but the second was much better! We were absolutely shattered so we had a power nap & then went to find some lunch.
We found a really nice café not too far away & the owner was lovely! Next stop was the hospital to make me an appointment with an orthopaedic surgeon! In the afternoon we shopped & I bought a bright red suitcase on wheels! As I could no longer carry my backpack with one arm!
We spent the evening booking flights to Vagas, hotels & our Alcatraz trip for the following day.
Alcatraz was amazing to see. We did a self guided audio tour which was really informative. A former in-mate was in the shop signing copies of the book he had written so I purchased one! You never know it might be worth something one day!
We jumped on a cable car which took us back to Union Square & we had a right giggle hanging off the sides taking in the wonderful sights of San Fran. That evening we went out for a really plush dinner! It was delicious, and such a treat to eat good quality food. Afterwards we watched a live Jazz band which was cool.
The next day I had my $500 appointment!!!!! I was not prepared at all for the pain I had to endure whilst the doctor pushed & pulled on my wrist manipulating the bone back into place! The only saviour was the amazing view I had over the city whilst she did so! The X ray showed everything was back in order so she put my arm in plaster & told me to see another doctor once back home!
In the afternoon Vic & I wanted to do a sightseeing open top bus tour of the city, but there were so many different companies to choose from! We saw a bus pull up & got chatting to the driver. The itinerary was good but the legendary crooked street wasn't on there & this was something I wanted to see, anyway he said that as we were so beautiful if we did his tour he would take us there especially! What a nice man! We bought hotdogs for ourselves & I treated the bus driver to one too. The tour was fun, however it was so windy up top that I had to buy a San Fran hoodie when we stopped for hot drinks! I'd only had it on ten seconds & I'd spilt my hot chocolate all over myself.I swear I have become soo ditsy whilst being away, ok ok, more ditsy than usual! The wind as we drove over the Golden Gate bridge was immense! I've never experienced anything like it! But it was worth it. We got back at the hostel just in time for our shuttle bus to the airport although as I went to get in the bus my trousers ripped at the front revealing my black lacy pants & thighs!(It was a fair distance to step up from the ground to the bus!! But it was probably more due to the amount of Mcdonalds I've eaten in recent months!) I was horrified. Once at the airport I tried to cover myself up as much as poss with my top & carry on bag until I could get to the "rest room" & change!!
The flight to Vagas was awesome. We flew with Virgin America, the lighting on the plane was really dim with a pink tone, v.cool! You could create you own playlist which you could even listen to on take off & landing. I chose coldplay for takeoff to help me relax & the one & only Elvis on landing in Vagas!!! Classic!
You could even send instant messages to other people on the plane, just by selecting their seat numbers! I couldn't see any hotties from where I was sat from (now that would have been fun!) so I made do messaging Vic who was sat next to me!!!
We were very excited when we landed in Vagas but I'll tell you all about that another day!
Lots of love, have a great weekend you guys! xXx
