Waking to a not so chilly morning and the faint roar from the hill, we set out with Laili and Lewa for a 6 hour walk in the bush for them to practice their hunting skills and smells of the bush. Racing out of their enclosure in a bouncing and playful run, jumping on and ankle tapping each other in the excitement. Starting the morning with my first walk with Paza and Penya who are 15 month old cubs. Paza was born in South Africa and relocated to Antelope Park along with Laili. Paza is slightly taller and darker than Penya - both gorgeous cubs. During our walk one of the researchers on site, Rae, was taking the monthly measurements of each of the lion cubs paw prints in the sand. Finally worked out how to use this technology... catch up time. After flying into Bulawayo with the Zimbabwean Prime Minister and his entourage - I figure I was either on the safest plane coming into Zim or a target... With much excitement and enthusiasm I finally arrived at Antelope Park on Saturday 19 May, home for the next 3 weeks. In a blur of introductions to the other volunteers (29 of us), staff and guides, I'm slowly going to have to reintroduce myself....
