Today was a flight to Brewarinna, to pick up a 19 year old in premature 30-week labour. On arrival in Brewarrina she was almost fully dilated nd was ready to push on the aeroplane - help! We luckily had her in the ambulance to Dubbo base hospital before the baby crowned, but that was one scary moment! Its amazing how these women have no antenatal care out in the bush, until the advent of labour! This lady had no idea how far along she was! It was only guess work ...

Not much to report for the weekend - went to the farmer's market on Saturday morning, where the local farmers come to sell their home grown goods - it was really nice, and it looks like all the locals use it as a social get together! Today was the first day with the Royal Flying Doctor Service actually flying! The prospect was very exciting and the experience did not dissapoint. First was a flight to Coonabarrabran to pick up a gentleman who had fallen ?cause, then off to Orange where an elderly lady with respiratory distress and heart failure was waiting for us. Today has been a good day! I went to Cobar, a small mining town 1 hr flight away from Dubbo. I went on a tiny plane, and felt every bump in the wind! At the hospital, they gave me a car for the morning to have a look around Cobar - how great is that! First time driving an automatic hmmmm, that was scary! Still no flying today as the plane still not fixed! So done some paperwork for the flight nurses and done some medications checklists. Then was grilled on all the meds by the doctor - arghhh! Then forced to put together a ventilator circuit - again, arghhh! Then went shopping to Dubbo and cooked a truly welsh meal for the girls - Glamorgan sausages, Leek and potato pie and welsh cakes! Now off to bed, with the possiblity of a flight tomorrow!
