After a night of throwing up, getting out of bed at 5.30am for the trip to Uluru was unthinkable! So I sent my accomplice to take pictures. Its ok, she was only on her own for 18 hours! Today we flew to Alice Springs in the Northern Territory - a lot hotter and a world away from the cosmopolitan feel of Adelaide! As soon as we arrived it was clear this was outback Australia and we were looking forward to our trip to Uluru (Ayres rock) tomorrow! This morning we walked to Adelaide's city market. Then we took a tram down to Glenelg, Adelaide's finest beach, about a half hour away from the city centre. The beach was lovely, with clean waters and white sands! Went for pizza in the evening and a pleasant stroll down Adelaide's 'Soho!'

Yesterday was an amazing experience - a visit to Kangaroo island, a small island the size of Singapore just off the coast of South Australia - and a very long journey from Adelaide!! First was a ferry ride over the Backstairs Passage - the stretch of the Pacific between the two islands, next sea lion watching on the beach, such an amazing experience, standing 6 ft away from these wild animals in the middle of their breeding season! Today I went to the most famous attraction in Dubbo - the Western Plains Zoo. A really good zoo with wide open spaces for all the animals and no tall cages etc. A bit disappointed with the lack of indigenous Australian animals - didnt see one kangaroo or koala! It was mostly African animals, never mind! No other news from today!
