Wow, what a crazy fantastic coupla weeks it has been! So I've been travelling now for 2 weeks and 2 days and its been awesome!!! So cool that I've not even had a chance to get on to this blog page and update it! So far travelling is totally the best, and it gets better everyday! Ok so, here's some of what I've been up to:
I spent 2 weeks in Beijing and honestly could have happly spent many more weeks there. Its a fab city with som much culture, history, and soooo much to do! I went to the olympic site to see the birds nest and the cube-so super! They look much grander in real life than on the tv, massive!
I've been to the great china wall three times, and all three times very fantastic. The first time I went I was with Kiran and Manveer and we went to a really tourist part. We had to get in these weird plastic car things that took us up to the top. We walked and walked and walked......and made it tot he highest point of the wall! woo hoo!!! It was a fantastic sunny day, which made it harder! The views wer great, the wall just went on and on and on, winding around like an endless dragon.
I then went to see some temples which were amazing, so colourful and beautiful.Went to the forbidden city, Tianamen Square, and went to see a kung fu show!
So my journey started off with me checking into a gorgeous hotel with Kiran and Manveer. I ended up staying there a week and a half! Yeah yeah, I was totally easing myself into the whole travelling thing, I'm being more of a traveller now! So my back pack weighed like 19kg! I know! what the....?!!! So that had to change as I barely made it from the baggage pick up to the taxi outside the station! ha ha! Kiran went through all my stuff with me and we managed to cut it down by like a third! Phew! So she took all that stuff back with her leaving me with a slightly lighter back pack. The weather was gorgeous for the first week and from now I'm going to warmer and warmer places, so I decided to send back my one jumper and any other warm clothes as i figured I wouldn't need them....oops! Last week got cold and I've had to result to wearing all my vest tops, all my t-shirts and my one long sleve top with both my leggings and my trakkies! Ha ha, I sooo miss my wardrobe! Anyhows, so once I finally moved out of this grand hotel I moved into my youth hostel, which I was expecting to be yuky, but it was great! A really nice room, big and roomy with my own bathroom still (I always expect to have to share bathrooms while in youth hostels..I'm sure it's coming). So I was well happy. I then met up with my tour group who are really nice and fun!
So thats when the touring began, we went back to the great wall on the Monday but went to the oldest section which was relly really quite. It was pretty much just us in our tour group and maybe a couple of peaople every half hour or something? It was fantasic! We trekked-and I mean really trekked-the wall for 4 hours covering 10k. It was really hard most of the wall was mega steep and totally uneven! But it was totally worth it! It was a hotter day and really sunny so the sky were blue giving a fab sight of the wall. Once we'd finally done that we stayed in a small hostel right next to the wall. Afetr much much thought-ha ha-I decided to join the other 10 out of 16 people on my tour and get up at 4 in the morning to trek the great wall for 50 ins to see the sunrise! I can't believe I managed to get up and trek in the pitch black. It was great though, the sky was full of stars and it was dead quite. When the sun came up it was amazing, even ifor my shattered and half asleep self!
So after that I'm almost at today. We left the great wall and travelled back to Beijing city centre and caught a train to Xian-where I am now. It took 14 hours and was definatly an experiance! We've arrived in Xian this morning and are going to go see the Terracota Warriors 2mrw-sooooo excited! I saw them at the exhibition in London and they were amazing there-I can't wait to see them in real life!
Ok so, thats pretty much my itinery, but its the little stuff inbetween thats the best. So I've had to ajust very quickly to life in China, like the stunky stunky squat toilets they have, Beijing isn't to bad as its all done up for the olympics, but these squt toilets are crazy! The food here is fab, I'm totally loving it. The people are fasinatied by me which is great as they keep taking my picture and I feel like a super star being followed by the paps! Ha ha. It was worse when Manveer and Kiran were here, coz we're all tall and my brothers like 6 foot 4 so the Chinese were like-wow-picture picture ! ha ha!
Oh there is sooooooo much more to say but I'm oyut of time again, I'm off to dinner with my tour group in a moment so best go. Hope everyone is well. I'll try and get on this again soon, hopefully while I'm in Xian as it's 60p per hour to use the net! cool!
Oh yeah, one more thing, weird things I've eaten so far: Sea cucumber and .....ducks brains!!! Look at me ebing sooo brave! ha ha xxxxxx
