Hello Everyone! I wanted to let you all know I arrived safe and sound. I left monday afternoon and arrived in Amsterdam in the morning. It finally hit me I was traveling to a whole new country when the man next to me on the plane was speaking dutch. I luckily started my adventure with two other girls from my school. There are ten of us all together. Once we flew for nearly eight hours, we collected the six huge suitcase we had between us and then had to take a train into Groningen (the city I am living in). We somehow managed to get on the right train with luggage and all. All of a sudden the train stopped in the middle of no where. There were sheep outside the window. An announcement was made in dutch. We had no idea what was going on, but we could tell by the reactions of all the passengers something was not good. After some sitting we finally moved along and arrived in Groningen about two and a half hours later. We waited for everyone to get off the train first before we attempted to get our luggage of. Luckily a Dutch student named Saskia was awaiting our arrival . The first thing she said to us was "Girls, girls girls! Why so much luggage, what did you bring?!" Thank goodness she was there to take us to our housing building. After two plane rides, a train ride, a bus ride and a lot of walking we made it to our international housing named "Winschoterdiep". I am still working on how to say this. All I know is it starts with a "v" sound and you say it really fast. It is a wonderful place to live. I have already met people from all over the world. The girl next to me is from Australia and the guy on the other side is from Hungary. There are 8 people from my college here and we also met a whole group from South Carolina. I am so excited to meet all new people and explore this amazing city, country and continent!
