Day 1. Waking up here was surreal. It's almost 10am and after arriving at 4 we all slept well! We go downstairs to a huge family breakfast of fruits yoghurts and cooked things. Decide to take a trip into kuta to have a look around. Nicole has hired a nanny to help with her kids while she is here so we wait for her and set off. Talking with the nanny in the car is awesome, she is from java and has 2 kids. I tell her she should bring them around to play with my kids and she says she coudnt as she has to work. I love hearing about ger life and family. They live so different to us. She works to feed her family and is away from them 12 hrs a day for work. She has 2 boys. 7 & 11 months. I am quite uncomfortable with the fact that she is away from them for just 35 dollars a day. Heading in to kuta we see so many scooters. Many have 4 members of a family on them, kids sleeping bags of food chickens live pigs and surfboards. The bizarrest thing is the age of the riders. Some are no more than twelve flying around in the scariest traffic i have ever seen. No helmets either. We are told that the legal age is 17 but you pretty much get away with anything here. Kody thinks he could give it a shot! We park in a westernized shopping centre and all head off in different directions. Jeff and family plus matt and Heidi head to a Mexican restaurant and us and bear decide to check out the markets. After lunch ( kfc & burger king)! We head to the street vendors, mark is summoned by a man who gives him a business card with the name "jony wolker" he is all over us with Aussie slang telling us to follow him to his shop. He had mark at g'day mate! We walk into his shop and four guys start trying to sell us stuff... Oooooh mrs you look beeeery cheap for you.... We got stung lol. After we meet up with Sar and Brett and get fish pedicures with Bella. This was one thing I really wanted to do whilst here and couldn't walk past the first one I seen. It is like tiny electric shocks on your feet, hundreds of fish just bite/ suck on your dead skin cells. After this we wander about until our meet up time and head home. Dinner tonight is Indonesian. Spicy chicken and fish. Laksa and salads. Not my cup of tea but I didn't hate it! Poor Heidi didn't eat anything but rice! Kids spend the night swimming and playing pool, loving family time! They don't get to see allot of their grandad or Schoer cousins so time is precious! Bed by 9!
