We had a shocker of a day today, we were not in bed until 2:30 and the alarm was set to 3:20. As you can imagine we were both quite tired all day, to top it off I caught Chelsea's cold which she has had for a couple of days now so both of us were feeling sick and tired so the day was destined for failure!!

We caught the taxi to Gatwick and flew to Marseille at 6:50, marseille was not what I was expecting it seemed not only really old (like I was expecting) but kind of run down and so busy. We got some traditional French road rage in the taxi on the way to our apartment, when we finally arrived the accommodation was different to say the least. To start off with we were on the 5th floor, do you think there was an elevator? No just a windy steep staircase for us to carry up our 4 bags weighing in at 25 to 30 kgs each!! The actual apartment was nice and clean but the thing was we were living in an apartment with complete strangers, so when we would go out we had to leave all our belongings in the room with them still there, not ideal.

The weirdest part of the apartment was the bathroom, the bath was situated in the middle with no curtains around it. The shower was a handheld one so if you spray anywhere that is not hitting your body it would go straight on the floor, window or mirror!!! Bad, bad, bad design, we left the place looking like the bathtub was a boat in the ocean.

We took a ferry out to the islands off the coast of marseille, they were also very run down! The scenery was nice though and we took a swim in the turquoise water which was also very nice. We went and had pizza for dinner at one of the many restaurants in Marseille, we are sure it was nice but neither of us could really taste. Let's hope it is better tomorrow, not our favorite day for traveling!
