So I've finally arrived in Auckland! Technically yesterday was Day One but considering I spent most of it in a zombie like status, it doesn't count.

It's a pretty surreal experience being here. I feel like this is a dream I need to wake up from!

Getting here was pretty exhausting...it was my first time flying - all I kept thinking while I waiting in Hong Kong for my flight (for 9 hours by the way) was, "Why, for my first airplane trip, did I decide to go so damn far?!" Suffice to say, I do not want to see another plane for a very long time!

Lindy and Joe have been such gracious hosts. I feel so grateful and privileged to have them here.

The weather has been great...considering that everyone had said I'd never see the sun, it's been peeping out a lot just to greet me.

Rumour has it we'll be heading to the beach today...I'm trying not to imagine Camps Bay like conditions but I can't help it - surely that's what a beach should look like?!

I'm still trying to adjust to being so far away from everyone. Thankfully, I haven't had an opportunity to miss anyone yet as everyone has been in contact - it actually feels like I never left SA!

I'll update with pics of the "beach" later...wonder if I'll be able to catch a tan?
