Lake Garda to Bled Jezero
Good morning and welcome to what is to be our longest journey so far taking us from Italy, across the border and in to Slovenia. The whole trip should take us 12 hours and 29 minutes. Provided everything goes to plan we should arrive in Bled about 20:20 GMT.
Arrived at our first stop and have 4 hours here in Verona. Baggage stored at the station and going on a bus up into the town. We got off the bus at Piazza Bra which at first glance looks like it's trying to be a mini Rome with it's coliseum and it's pretend gladiators doing the rounds. And when all is said and done it is, but it's a very beautiful little Rome.
You can't go to Verona and not visit the balcony made famous by Shakespear. "Romeo Romeo where for art thou Romeo?"
"darn ere wi mi camera"
We wrote our love note on the wall an caressed the breast of Juliet, her husband wasn't too happy though. Apparently it's a statue not the person.
On the way back down we passed a duomo and like all the other building it was very impressive. The thing that shocked me most was how busy it actually was, for sone reason thought it would be quieter. Oh well, just added to the atmosphere an would be a lovely base to stay and explore Garda ad Venice from.
Heading back to the station we called in the market to pick up some fruit and a sandwich for tea on the train later. We also called in for a snack at a lovely traditional Italian........Macdonalds.

Back on the train now and heading for our second transfer stop of Mestre to catch the train up to Gorizia.

Train caught ok and speeding our way up to Gorizia and our first "oh s***" moment. It would appear that for some reason I have no vouchers for Austrian railways OBB. Heated discussion now takes place between myself and Fiona as to why not and how's that happened. This results in an extra ticket having to be bought from Villach to Salzburg ad then Salzburg to Munich. not budgeted for and I suppose I can be thankful it will only be half price with my FIP card. This doesn't seem to appease Feesy though, who I think is seriously picturing me at the bottom of lake Bled. This may be my last entry in the blog.

Arrived at Gorizia and now we are going to get a bus from Italy to Slovenia, a journey of about 10 minutes which just doesn't sound right. The next train leaves from the Slovenian station of Nova Gorica and from what I've seen on the internet is a picturesque journey through the mountains. If I'm honest this is the train journey I've been looking forward to. I will try and get some pictures for the blog best I can through the train window.
Quick update on the transport count and it now stands at..
18 trains
8 buses
2 trams
