Bled
Hearty breakfast consisting of omlette and a cafe latte. Made a bit of a fool of myself as I asked if a particular dish that the waitress had told me about "amonex" was Slovenian. I was then advised that it was in fact "ham n eggs". Errr omlette please.
Bit of wait for the scenic railway so me n shaky went for a mooch around the local 5 star hotel to ask about weddings. All the staff very helpful and he took us to the honeymoon suite, the superior suite and a standard double. All were Beautiful!! He then showed us where the reception would be held, with panoramic views over the lake. Sold!! Got a brochure n everything.
Anyway, caught the scenic railway, up to the base of the castle. 232 steps UP to the castle. Knackered. Got to the top. €8 each to get into it. No thanks, so we came back down!! Saw a wedding on the way back down though in a beautiful church. The bride was very late.
On now to sample some of slovenias local delicacies. Bled cake. Basically just a vanilla slice but extremely tasty. Sat eating it overlooking the lake. The sun put his hat on for a while.
Back to the hostel to retrieve our bags. Lurch had been kind enough to store them for us in his luggage room (a small room upstairs that was probably haunted by the ghost of Emily rose).
Eventually found the bus station then a 3 minute ride to the top of the hill then a 15 minute hike with backpacks to the train station where our Bled adventure began.
