Today we went to the schloß schönnbrunn. This was the summer palace of the hasberg empire. The palace had gorgeous gardens at the back. We walked along the flower beds up til the Neptune fountain which was very intricately carved. We continued climbing up the hill at the back of he gardens til we reached the gloriette. Here we had a panoramic view of the entire palace overlooking Vienna. It was a spectacular view! As we walked back down the hill we came into the mazes which turned out to be a lot of fun! Got lost so many times but it was quite funny...
Moving on from the maze we decided to go to the worlds oldest zoo-Tiergarten. We saw rhino's, hippo's, leopards, zebra's, koala's, monkeys, wolves, pandas and many more! It was a huge zoo filled with almost any animal you could think of!
Finishing at the zoo we then left to go back to the hostel to get our bags. We then took an evening train to Budapest!
Arrived in Budapest, couldn't find our hostel. Standard procedure for myself and hafiza. The great geographers we are! But some helpful guys approached us asking if we needed help... We clearly looked clueless and lost! They stank of alcohol and were talking crap but they walked with us using their GPS on their phone to our hostel bless them! Exchanged numbers with my new buddy Gary from hungary.
Anyway, got to the door of the hostel and we dialled the number of the guest room hostel and no one answered. No lights were on either... s***. So in my desperation I rang the next number and a kind gentleman opened the door for us. So up we trekked to the first floor-in pitch black! Tried to find the hostel and still no sight of it. Eventually came across a door with the teeny tiniest little hostel sticker on the door so I knocked very loudly and a couple answered the door and told us there's no reception but we have to ring this guy... Fantastic. Ring this chump and he says he's been trying to contact me all day but obvs I've not had any connection. Anyway he comes in and was like who's Serena Devi? Me... He was like 's*** man I've pissed u off! Asking where I was on the phone so demanding like that... I thought damn I better not piss of the Devi, the goddess!' I was shocked! I didn't think I was being rude but I think he was joking anyway because he sat down and showed us everywhere to go in Budapest after that. Even gave us a key to go sit on the rooftop if we want. And said namaste to me when he left... Joker!
Off to bed now after that eventful little trip! Liking Budapest so far :)
