It feels like since forever since I wrote, so I'm going to cheat for this blog and give you some summaries… Hahaha. That and it's 27 degrees outside at the moment, so while I feel like I should make the most of the free wireless, I'm also slowly melting… Hahaha. Mallorca was fantastic fun - it was great to hang out with Jay, Troy and Kel and Craig and to get to meet Raquel and Piper too! All of the nights seemed to revolve around me, Jay, Troy and Raquel drinking and dancing til the early hours which was great fun.
My first full day in Mallorca and thanks to some epic sunburn I decided to spend the day in the hotel room as I waited for the others to fly in that night. It might seem like there would be nothing to do but I had the following to keep me entertained:
·Sangria
·Bath
·Massive bed
·Skye news
·Free wireless (equals lots of chatting on facebook)
When the sun had started to cool down I headed off in search of a supermarket (which turned out to be Carrefour) which was essentially a MASSIVE department store with everything you could need in it… needless to say I had a great time there!
The others (Piper, Kel, Craig, Troy and Jay) got in around 11pm, and then it was time for a drink of sangria before having an early night.
The next day we hit the old town to get some history and sight seeing done before heading back to the beach. It was a brilliant plan until we got rained on and drenched - at least it was still beautiful and hot though so we were dry again in no time. It was also Raquel and Troy's birthdays so we planned to meet up for dinner and then drinks. First everyone came to Hesperia for some 'pre-game' drinks by the pool (starting a tradition for the rest of the trip). Once again, in line with all other plans… we managed to get lost on the bus, and got to dinner EXTREMELY late… on the bonus side, who would have known that saying "It's their birthday" in Spanish at dinner and at the clubs would have gotten the birthday kids free dessert, all of us free limoncello shots, two free shots of tequila, and a night of random fun at Tito's night club! Lots of dancing and partying later it was time to call it a night before moving out of Palma and into Alcudia the next day…
Well, it was PLANNED to head to Alcudia… there was just one small problem with the fact that buses don't run there on Sundays… thankfully the boys managed to sort out a private minivan to take us there! The next hotel (Viva Sunrise) I was without a room booking so Piper and Raquel kindly let me crash on their VERY comfortable couch… I'm devastated I didn't take any photos of the hotel rooms, hopefully someone else did! While walking the streets in search of food for dinner we ran into a bar scalper (one of the many people trying to fill their club with tourists!) who recommended two restaurants for dinner Ramons for tapas (which we had the first night) and Bistro Mar. After dinner we headed out for some pub jumping, first to Banana Bar (which started out with all of 7 of us in it) then to Goodfella's (where the tip to eat had come from) before finishing up at Bells Disco.
The final full day in Mallorca, we all headed out to the old town in Alcudia for some sight seeing and proposed retail therapy which Kel, Piper and I tried to extend at the Marina with little luck. We were all really lucky with our choice of menu of the day for lunch which got us 3 massive courses of food! Realistically the first course was enough, but for 8.50 Euro, you cram in what you can! Hahaha. That night (after pre game of course!) we headed to Bistro Mar for dinner where we all over indulged again, and had to waddle to Mentas (another nightclub) for some dancing, before heading to Goodfellas and then home (via the playground… lol). The morning before after talking to Nick on MSN we'd discovered that we'd made a MINOR mistake with our booking of the Europe trip, and that we were supposed to fly out to Paris the day before he arrived in London… much internet searching and research later I finally managed to sort out the flights… DAMN! Planning has just not worked out for Europe at all!!!
Today I tried my darndest to sleep in, after realizing it was the only time I was going to have an entire room to myself for a very long time! After checking out it was time to head to the airport, which brings me back to Valencia (where I am now!). After checking into PurpleNest (thanks for the recommendation Em and Joe!) I headed out in search of a dress to wear at Mandy and Luke's wedding for when I get home in October… 3 hours and no dress later I decided to take a break for my sanity, and will resume the search in Madrid, London and Italy.
Tomorrow it's off to Madrid for 2 nights before getting back to London and waiting for Nick's arrival on the 10th. I'm looking forward to settling in London for a few days, and being able to put my clothes through a washing machine, and maybe even find some new cheap ones! It will be great to have a mini-holiday from travelling. As much as I've loved it I think I have a bit of fatigue at the moment, so it will be nice to recharge, and then head off with my final travel buddy, Nick. I also have my first contact with one of the recruiters booked in for Monday, so fingers crossed that goes well and I can get the job hunt under way as soon as possible!
Sorry I've been slack with replying - you'll all be bombarded soon! Missing you all terribly, and looking forward to catching up soon with some of you! Love you all heaps, and wish you were here (no really, it's quite good with the heat and the beaches… Hahaha)
Much love! Keep the messages coming!
