Sean's Travels
Spent the Last 3 days just generally slobbing out on whale Island - No its not called that cause I was lying there but because apparently whales used to swim past there all the time but nowadays they seem to have better things to do with there time.Whale Island was absolutely gorgeous. If you could imagine a Caribbean beach setting with palm trees and a bar on the beach and hardly anybody around you then you would be on the right track. Accommodation was in straw huts just off the beach which was really cool except the local wildlife popping in to disturb you in the form of huge spiders about 2 inches in size and probably with legs more toned then Arnold swartzenneger :(Lots of things to do there in the way of canoeing, snorkeling, sailing and get whipped by the locals at volleyball - Its the second time we have whipped by the locals. The snorkeling was fantastic with loads of different color fish (I'm not sure we didn't eat them for dinner over the few nights we were there!!) and some of them had lots of attitude and would come up to you and try to scare you off. This little pink fish for instance would swim up to you give you the filthiest look and start harassing you till you swam off. I'm sure he was going to slap me with his finn.Time on the island went really quick and yes today I am really burnt and its back to Nah trang which is a tourist hot spot where the price is way over the top and is about as appealing as a dirty laundry party. Tonight we leave for Ho Chow Minh city (Saigon to all those oldens) where it will be back to city life and hopefully cheap beer again but it will come with its down side off smog and more bikes then you could possibly fit into a bike sales room!! Unfortunately this will mean another train - dam thought I’d got away from trains after the past 10 years. Least this time its an overnighter!!
