Hello All,
Thanks for your messages, it's been great to hear from everyone back in winter land! Sean and I are still on Coromandel and plan to stay for annother week or so, the we'll be down near Levin on a farm there. Our holliday (Christmas) plans are still up in the air but we have a good idea of what we'll be up to untill then. We've also booked the Abel Tasman track in early January so we'll have to make it to the South Island by then.
Right now we're on our second "farm" just south of the first we were on. It's a lovely community of friends that live on a large tract of land (about 500 acres or so). We're essentially house sitting and fixing up the cabin of a woman we met through WWOOF in Auckland. Sorry Gramps, she doesn't want her adress on the world wide web so she's asked us not to disclose her name or whereabouts (very secretive)! So you'll just have to Google north of Coromandel town and have a look. Right now we're a mile or so from the beach in a great sub-tropical piece of land that was deforisted about 30 years ago, but is very alive now! Out our front window huge ferns are taking over the landscape. We're tucked away from the hustle and bustle of Auckland and everything else! The closest town is Coleville, which reminds me a lot of Corvallis : )
In short we're learning much about this land of many birds and rock-solid soil (really hard to till!) and we miss you all and Missoula as our first wave of homesickness hits, But people are so friendly here it's easy to feel at home.
Cheers and Love
Laurel (Sean says be good)
