You will not believe the tower we climbed today! It was a 1000 yr old round tower standing 108 feet above the town of Kildare and saint brigid's cathedral. The way to the top took a climb up 7 sets of steep ladders. Six of them inside the tower, leaned against the rocks and made of wood. Just imagine the monks all piling inside in order to hide out during a Viking raid!
Afterwards we went to the crystal factory in Waterford. Our tour guide took our photo with the actual vases that will be given at the 2012 olympics in London. The artistry was amazing. Especially meaningful was the second of two sculptural pieces done in remembrance of 9/11. The other piece is at station 1, ladder 11 in fdny.
We ended the day on the southern coast, in the town of Kinsale.
