We arrived in Hoi An as scheduled and could actually stretch out and sleep on the bus, which was great. It's been rainig constanly for a few days now, but we managed to stay dry in the many tailoring shops around town. We knew you could get things made in Hanoi, but I do't think either of us understood that that literally means anything and everything you could possibly think of. They have catalogues full of belts, purses, sweat suits, jeans, suits, pants, skirts, shoes (heels, runners, sandals) and everything in between.
We splurged. Heather got a pair of leather slouch boots, blazer (which looks so good on it looks was made for her....oh wait it was), winter jacket and dress pants. I got a black suit (if i'm going to be a proper PR shark I need a power suit), beautiful jacket, made to order jeans and a pair of leather boots. Needless to say it was all very good value, but put a slight dent in our travellers wallet. :) Well worth every penny.
I think the funniest part was getting shoes made. Our feet were soaking wet from wanderng around and they make you stand on a peice of paper while they trace your foot and slide a tape mesure under them. At the end you have a foot drawing with measurements all over it - double sided.
We love Hoi An, but we hate our ponchos. Someone stole Heathers purple poncho and she got stuck with one that hada gaping hole in the side. Hehe. I laughed at her and said that no one would steal her poncho, but apparently they did - go figure.
