Last day of February and we just finished 3 nights in Taupo which is home to the world's largest volcanic freshwater lake. We enjoyed the thermal mineral pools in our room as well as the lake which had various hotspots from spring water. We took a short hike and watched the roaring Huka Falls, which exits Lake Taupo. We had a visit with the Honey Bee Hive (store/bee hive), tasted three types of honey wine (mead) and sampled the different types of honey. Brady watched a ropes course adventure, which was right beside the Honey Hive - his braveness at things is stepping into high gear!
A highlight was watching some glassblowing at a small gallery in which the artist turned some lava glass into some amazing art. The people are so friendly, the views are gorgeous and the water is so blue and crystal clear....could definitely get used to this lifestyle! We are seeing less cattle now (still lots of sheep) as we leave the farming landscape and are getting into some mountains.
Taupo is gearing up for an IronMan competion next week-end (last one before Hawaii) which brings 35000 people to the town! Weather has been amazing with lovely sunsets....another day of paradise!
Heading to Wellington now which is about a 5 hour drive so looking forward to the scenery. Brady is loving his audiobooks of Harry Potter!

MoT I would have LOVED watching the glassblowing!!! The sunset looks amazing too. We're missing Gryph around here, and Tillie is definitely returning to her usual playful self, so hopefully we'll be able to reunite with your handsome four-legged boy when I get back from March Break!
MacKay Fam Glassblowing with lava glass! That would be very cool to see!
