Firenze, Italy
Hi everyone!
Highlights of Firenze in the last 2 weeks:
My trip: It was definitely an adventure getting to Firenze because I had no train ticket to Firenze since the ticket desk closed, had to buy a ticket on the train with a penalty. I had a suitcase, duffle bag and backpack lugging around Milano s central train station trying to figure out where to buy a ticket, find my train and little ol me lugging all that stuff onto the trainand worrying about missing my train because it leaves in 15 minutes. For those who havent been to Milano s central train station, it is equivalent to weaving through all the airline desks looking for the right airline, going downstairs to baggage claim, buying a ticket and weaving back up Tom Bradley terminal to find another airline desk, then doing the long walk to get to your seat on the plane while lugging baggage equivalent to your weight and watching for pickpocketers grabbing your stuff in 15 minutes.
The people: They really do say ciao and arrivederci as much as we think! Firenze is swamped with tourists and it is definitely a love-hate relationship.
The city: I live near Piazza Santa Croce with a nice view of a garden outside my room and Tuscan hillside in the distance outside the kitchen window, absolutely charming. The city streets are actually less clean and picturesque than I envisioned in my mind but that is part of being in the city centre.
Food: Gelato and cappuccinos are heaven!
Fashion: It is going to be so hard to resist picking up several italian leather jackets; definitely high style even in Firenze, I cant imagine what Milano will be like.
Administration: Ultimate runaround, I can honestly say the DMV is great in comparison
Museum update: Valentino in Roma: 45 years of style at Museo Ara Pacis in Rome was amazing! Ladies, if any of you ever see this exhibit traveling across your path, I highly recommend it!
Miss you guys and do keep me posted on what the news back in California!
