So I will start where I left off. Unfortunately it is just me writing today as scott is resting in the hotel with an upset tummy, must be all the ice creams!!
So we left Paris 8am friday morning and travelled down through france and across the italian border, changed at Milan and arrived in Venice after 8pm (a very long day!!) We couldnt find any accomodation and so went and stayed at the youth hostel. It was the first time we have both stayed in single sex dormitories in Italy and probably the last! After a pretty terrible nights sleep we travelled back to mainland venice and found a hotel in Mestre for 2 nights. We then headed back into Venice and started exploring. We wandered around (found McDonalds!!) walked over the rialto bridge (very busy) and finally found St Marks Square. We went into the basilica and also up the bell tower (I think I wrote clock on the photos!). The basilica is quite amazing and very worth it. We then continued to wander and eat ice creams. Definitely the best way to see the city is on foot, however we did find that you can jump on and off the water buses for free anyway!! We then headed back to our hotel and had a nice dinner nearby. Today we were going to head to Verona for the day but the trains were taking forever and so stopped in Vicenza and had a wander around another amazing city!!
Our tickets are booked to Rome at 8am tomorrow which will get us in at 1pm. We are booked into a hostel there for 3 nights (with our own room!!) and the next plan is a train out to Ancona and a ferry over to Greece.
The sights we are seeing are pretty amazing, however I wouldnt mind turning round a corner and not hearing an american accent for a little while. The trains are not seeming as easy to get as first thought but we are managing well.
Hope everyone is well and lots of love xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
