Well hello! It seems a long time since last did this and just to let you know we are having problems uploading the latest photos but will keep trying. So we left you in Rome, we then travelled by train to Ancona and got a ferry to Patras in Greece on the thursday. The ferry was actually quite nice and we spent the afternoon sunbathing and swimming on deck. We upgraded our ticket to "airplane type" seats but scott decided he would be more comfortable sleeping in the luggage rack (we have a photo!) and I slept on the floor. Wasn't actually too bad apart from a terrible snorer (yes dad, worse than you!). The ferry ride took 22 hours and so when we arrived in Patras we found some accomodation in a little village just outside called Rio. Found a nice little family run restaurant with very nice food and very cheap. We only stayed in the village one night and then headed down to the sea and stayed down there (alot more expensive). Beaches bit crap, only stones and pebbles but scott was happy because we found the Rion Fortress to go walk around. We were also staying right by the largest cable bridge in the world, doesn't sound nice but looked very impressive at night when all lit up. On monday, we headed back into patras city and got a train to Corinth. We stayed there one night and visited the sites of ancient Corinth, impressive but mostly ruins now. Wouldn't really go to corinth for anything else. We finally found the train station back out of Corinth and got the suburban and metro line into central Athens. Found cheap hotel near the station and have today visited The Acropolis site (bloody long, hot and tiring walk up it!!), ancient Agora, and some temples. Got some more great photos but you unfortuantely can't see them yet! Planning to head out for some dins and stay in Athens tomorrow night too before heading north towards Thessaloniki.
Hope everyone is well, all our love Nic and Scott xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
