Wednesday (9th)
Early morning drive to Miami, don''t tell him your name Pike? Nearly ran out of fuel in downtown Miami 6 lane superhighway at rush hour! 2 hour flight to Belize International which is tiny- it has 1 baggage carousel in the same room as the customs and passport control. Scott was remembering about times at 25 Flight across the road while Clare was shocked at the size of the plane that we were about to board for our onward flight to Caye Caulker. Our bags only just managed to fit through the hole to the hold. There was 8 people on the flight but there was capacity for 12 so we had lots of leg room! There was no movie or salty snacks but the flight was only 10 minutes so that was OK. Saw the islands on the flight over and they looked fantastic. We landed about 3pm local time and the airport was a little wooden shack and we were the only ones who got off...it felt a bit like a bus.
TAXI was a golf buggy which took 6 minutes to take us and our bags to the other side of the island to our hotel - Seaside Cabanas. Thew ocean view is amazing with a pool and a small gate to the beach, heaven.
Squared away the diving for the week with Belize Diving Services and then hit the rum - drunken monkeys by 6pm! We drank at the Lazy Lizard on the split and watched the sunset. Had a delicious dinner at Sid's, Clare is still reeling from the ultra fresh barracuda. Were pretty drunk by this time so had a few more for the road and crashed out.
