Can't believe it's Christmas(new year now, we wrote this a while back) Seems like ages since we last up dated, only been a month. Well before we left mooloolaba we visited Australia zoo, which was really good, we got to feed the kangaroos and get up close to the koalas We then arrived in Brisbane ready for the ashes first test, have to say wasn't something I was excited about, but we were lucky enough to end up sitting right next to the barmy army and the atmosphere was amazing the best was when England lost 3 wickets in a row and the trumipt player came up with 'living on a prayer' everyone was singing along! When we weren't at the game we watched it sat on a man made beach in the city which had a big screen up, can't get better than that.
We next arrived in Byron bay where we spent a few days. This is also where I decided drowning would be a very bad way to go! We booked a kayaking tour to some dolphins and turtles, something we were both really looking forward too, in the end all we saw was a seagul and lots of waves crashing down on us, the waves were so big it took us 3 attemps just to get out, only the one attempt to get back in although it didn't involve us sitting in the kayak and did involve me being carried out of the sea by one of the instructers.
After another 12 hr bus journey we arrived in Sydney and had 2 weeks of luxary staying with graham and julie in there apartment looking right over coogee beach, we spent most are time sight seeing and checking out the beaches and we were treated to a meal in the revolving restaurant up in the sky tower, with amazing views over the city. We also visited the Blue mountains for a few days as well which involved us doing lots of walking and going for a ride on the worlds steepest railway. While on one walk we got caught out by the weather, when we got pelted with Marbel size hailstones, 5 minutes before there wasn't a cloud in the sky, 5 minutes after, no clouds!
We left Sydney and took the over night train straight to Melbourne where we stayed in st Kilda just out side the city. This is where we spent Christmas and we had a great time, we had a Christmas dinner in the hostel we stayed in which was basicly an Irish bar with rooms above. And then a group of us headed down the beach with some beers and spent most of the day there.
