Hi all,
In September this year, myself and a friend (Andy Ward) will attempt to drive a 20 year old VW Scirocco from the UK to Morocco and back in order to raise money for three selected charities - Macmillan Cancer support, Leukaemia Research, and the Notts and Lincs Air Ambulance.
The car was aquired by Andy last year with the intention of using it for another charity event - Rocaround the clock. The aim of this last event was to visit as many UK hospitals as possible in 24 hrs and was a great success. Andy managed to raise a large amount of money for Leukaemia research, but decided the car was still running well enough to take onone more challenge.
So, here we are! I agreed to help Andy co-drive for this event as we are planning to cover over 3500 miles in some (probrably) scorching weather in a car with NO air-con! As you can see from the photo above, the car also has a half 'roc' trailer. This is currently being built and prepped for the trip and will contain our spares just in case anything 'falls off'
We have decided to take on sponsorship for one charity each - Andy has chosen Leukaemia research, and Im supporting Macmillan Cancer support. So far, we have raised a good amount, but this is only the start and we need your help to raise out £1500 each targets. We also need support from any businesses that might be able to help us out with travel costs or mechanical support for the car.
