The Oaktree Foundation

Schools 4 Schools is an exciting new initiative of the Oaktree Foundation which plans to build tangible partnerships between schools in Australia and Schools in the developing world. 

Schools 4 Schools aims to take the momentum from last year's Make Poverty History concert forward by providing an avenue for young people to get involved with development work an a grass roots level.

In 2007, the Oaktree Foundation and STA Travel have continued their partnership to launch the Schools 4 Schools program in 12 township schools in the Valley of a Thousand Hills, South Africa.

In order to address the challenges facing young people in our partner schools, The Oaktree Foundation is working alongside GoLD, a local organisation. GoLD are addressing the high prevalence of HIV/AIDs through a highly successful and innovative peer to peer education program. For more info check out www.goldpe.org.za/ 

Schools 4 Schools plans to build real partnership between young people in Australia and students in South Africa through an interactive online program, educational modules and partnership exchanges. 

The Program is being established on the ground by three young volunteer from the Oaktree Foundation Mira, Dan and Trav, who will be keeping you posted on their journey.

In July 2007, STA will be sponsoring one of Australia's most high profile rock bands to continue their journey from the MPH Concert, by traveling to South Africa to work with Trav, Mira and Dan on the Schools 4 Schools project. Stay tuned for more info.
