No swimming for us. I guess there are marine stingers present called Kiangi jellies (not sure of spelling) which are size of your pinky finger nail and are pretty dangerous. They have a swimming area with nets to prevent the box jellies but not these little boogers...too small. There are first aide stations down the beach with vinegar to help diffuse the stinger cells. It is pretty painful from what we hear. The box jellies are the most dangerous...one sting and you only have 4 minutes before the venom stops your heart. Scary!!!
There are crocodiles in these waters too. So better to swim in designated area with life guards. Little more dangerous then NZ waters.
