Steph's Travels
Hey Guys, Back again. Once I figured out how easy it is to get the internet cafe i'm back. I'ts about 11pm here and we just came back from the Bazaar (market). That was sooo nuts. You have to bargain for everyting starting for about a 1/3rd of the price that they ask for. But they can tell we are tourists right away and they think we are canadian or australian. Most of the people on my tour are Aussies so we fit in i guess. They can't tell the accent. The one seller said canadians were poor so he would give me a special deal haha. IT was actually really stressful because they harass the females so our tourguid told us to find our "husbands" and hang out with the guys on the tour which was't a problem. We basically ended up walking in a huge group with our tour down the market because it was so stressful for everyone to be called on to buy something. We all only ended up buying one thing and that was our middle eastern costumes ( a tourist thing) for our dress up dinner tomorrow night on the cruise. I got this dress for $20 bucks us but it's pretty silly. some girls got belly dancer costumers haha. so we'll see how that turns out.
I didn't realize how poor the country was. All over they have people living in slums in unfinished houses with no water or electriciayt to save on taxes. They have little kids bug everyone and selling to tourist all day. I feel really bad. I even saw one guy slap a kid for not selling enough souvinears in the street. It was like being in the mob or something.
Our falluca boat was really relaxing and really nice out. We climbed up the sahara sand dune on the other side of the nile when we sailed over there. What a workout but def worth it for the view.
Hope all is well with you guys. Message me on here if you can. I'll try to keep checking.
Steph:)
