Ok - update.... July 4th
Monday we got up early and took the train from Rome to Napoli. This was basically everyone's first time on a real train. It was a new very fast high speed train. A good experience overall. Then our driver Giavonni met us at the train. Amazing that we made it anywhere because he spoke almost NO English. But, somehow, we made it to Pompeii. Our guide met us there and we skipped the 1.5 hr wait for line to get in Pompeii.
Pompeii was amazing and so was our guide Roberta. The history and story was super cool to learn.
Then Giavonni took us on to our place on the Amalfi coast. It was an additional hour drive - very very curvy roads.
We got to the apartment around 3. The apartment is very nice and close to the town of Amalfi. Notes about the apartment - 106 STEEP steps up from the road... 400+ steps from road down to beach... WhooHoo!! Guilia was the girl who checked us in. She spoke good English and gave us some suggestions.... restaurants, supermarkets, rides, etc. we decided getting a few things for the house/apartment would be a good idea... So, per Guilia's suggestion, we went to the small grocery store up the coastal road. Actually, it was 1.5 miles UP hill on that very curvy narrow road. It took us about 45 minutes... We were exhausted, dripping sweat, and we nearly died several times as the Vespa and cars came within inches of us... And the market was not at all liked we expected... Very small... Nothing recognizable like PV... We basically bought a ton of drinks and crackers -
