Blog 32 - Fiji Yasawa's
As we arrived at Sunrise Resort we had a nice lunch. Sunrise is a small resort and the guest are part of the family. After lunch, Hayley, Ashton Chris and I went to see the 'Saweilau' Caves. You have to dive underwater to get to one of the caves and we climbed though some is narrow ones to get to another… really cool. There is one wave that's called 'the pregnant cave', since pregnant people just can not enter it, even if they try to.. magical place…
After dinner there was (another) Kava ceremony, but all the travelling stress (or whatever) made my head ache, so I went to bed early…
The next morning I got up early to see the sunrise @ sunrise resort. After breakfast I chilled out in the dorm watching a movie and after lunch Hayley and I walked over the beach to the Blue lagoon, yes, just like the 1980 movie with Brooke Shields… (remember Inke?!): it was filmed right here!! After a snorkel, some reading on the beach, a fruit salad and a beautiful sunset we headed back to the resort through the wilderness.. It was so pretty! Especially the moon..
After dinner we played hypes of (English) card games and had a lot of fun. The next morning Hayley and I chilled out on the beach and after lunch it was time to leave Sunrise Resort… next stop: Manta Ray Resort.
At Manta Ray, there were hypes more people. The dorm was quite big, but not too bad and thanks to Justin (who worked there.. knows everything there is to know about generators, which are really needed on the islands: no generator.. no power) I had a nice hot shower after playing some volleyball. Dinner was really nice and there were some fun games after dinner, like limbo dancing… that's been a while! A bomb fire and some guitar and singing later that evening…
Tuesday morning I woke up early to do some yoga with Ray, a man I met earlier that week. Right after the yoga we went snorkeling with Manta Rays: beautiful animals, about 3-5 meters big! They kind of 'fly' through the ocean: that was some experience..
Breakfast was really nice and Justin and I took out a kayak afterwards and chilled out on the beach of an Island nearby. As we got back it was shower time… lunchtime… check-out-time… Justin showed me how to make a coconut bracelet and I love it! Wonder if I'll be able to take that with me.. into the US.. The boat for Kuata left at 2.30pm and an ice-cream and 1,5 hours later I arrived at Kuata.
Kuata had a big dorm as well and all the dorms so far had really thin mattresses, so the only way to be a bit comfy was to lie on your back.. and then you'd still feel the steel or wood of the bed.. big time…
Anyways, it had been a long day, so I chilled out and had a sleep before dinner. Dinner was really nice and we had a show afterwards!! The Bula Boys were going to dance for us. At first inside, but later on there was a fire dance outside, which was pretty awesome.
On Wednesday I got up early (6.15am) to do yoga with 4 other people.. I leaded the session and that's was a nice experience.
After brekky we went snorkeling with reef sharks -awesome! Although there only reef sharks and not as big as you expect them to be, there was a cold shiver goingdown my spine as one of them approached me: he (or she) was swimming straight towards me… well, I guess sharks and surfers: not a match…
Dried up at the beach reading De Vlucht (Suzanne Vermeer) (found at the resort at the blue lagoon) and after lunch I'd been taught how to weave a bracelet. It looks pretty cool. I did some laundry… by hand.. I finished my book (chilling out in a hammock) had some afternoon tea, watched Harry Potter (and the order of the Phoenix) on my computer, had dinner, worked on my blog and jammed a bit with the locals…
Thursday: a day of goodbyes. Yoga again in the morning, shower, breakfast, hammock, compu, lunch, beach, some volleyball with Josh and Ryan and I had to run to catch the boat to Bounty Island, where we arrived around 5pm.
Reena and Tasj (and Freddy), who did yoga with me that morning went to Bounty as well and we had dinner together. After dinner we played some cards and went to bed early, cause there was going to be another early morning yoga session the next day…
Friday - the last day of backpacking in Fiji.. We had brekky, played some cards, chilled out near the pool, had lunch… and at 2.30pm my boat to Viwa Island Resort arrived….
