What a day! We left the hotel at 4.30 pm Hong Kong time and caught the 19.50 flight to Melbourne. We were upgraded to premium economy (more keg room, free chocolate - its the future!!)
We watched films and caught a bit of sleep (me virtually none, Adam a couple of hours, Hazel 4ish hours) and arrived at Melbourne at 7.50am their time dazed and confused. After a bucket of black coffee (me) and some chicken nuggets (kids!) we found our departure gate and settled down to wait until the 11.50 flight to Auckland.
After an uneventful but slightly delayed flight (back In steerage - boo) we arrived at Auckland airport at 5.40pm NZ time…and had to clear customs and immigration, collect our suitcase, walk to the domestic terminal and check our suitcase back in…by 6.30 for our 7pm flight to Wellington.
The kids were brilliant and we just managed it - Auckland Airport staff are so friendly and helpful!!
Once on the hour long flight we all fell asleep just before take off and woke as we were landing!!
Jay and Graeme met us at the airport and gave us a scenic ride through beautiful Wellington back to their stunning house.
And relax…!!
