Hi Everyone,
We hope you are all well. We have had the most incredible 10 days! Our plans chaanged slightly and so we only spent 5 days in Fiji but they were AMAZING! After one night on the mainland we decided to head out to the islands. We started off on Mana, a beautiful island. The locals were brilliant, singing and dancing to welcome us, taking us to see baby sharks and to a beach called sunset beach for a sunset(unfortunately it was cloudy) but still beautiful. One night they did many different dances for us including fire dancing and knife dancing. We then learnt the BULA dance which was brilliant! Basically a fijian version on the macarena!
After 2 nights on Mana we set off to Beachcomber(the party island) which was incredible! The snorkelling was amazing and we had such a good night that was started off with a crab race where they auctioned off 20 different crabs which represented different countries. The South African one went for 100 fijian dollars, luckily we didnt get involved in the auction! We both had a brilliant night and it definitely lived up to what Becca and Soph had told us!
After some very interesting combinations of food, including fish curry, sausages, potatoes, pancakes and a lump of cheese all on one plate and a brilliant few days, we headed off to New Zealand where we had the most amazing welcome from Matt and Dominique! Matts flat is about a 4 second walk to the beach and is so so so nice. We got prepared for our next 6 weeks or so in a campervan and slept in a caravan for a few nights which was brilliant and about a 5 minute walk across the beach from Matts. Dads you will be very impressed that we played golf with Matt, it was a beautiful course called Gulf Harbour. Although our golf wasnt great, we had such a good time and we also had buggies!!!!!! Dominique gave us a brillaint tour of Auckland which included going to an art gallery and we had some lovely meals with them and their friends Becs and Tom who live beneath them. We have been absolutely spoilt rotten by them and we were lucky enough to get tickets from Matt to go to Aucklands Big Day Out. There were some brilliant acts playing, including The Vaccines, Foster the People, Kasabian, My Chemical Romance and Noel Gallagher. We also discovered a great DJ called Girltalk who downloads the free 30 second clips of songs and then mixes them together.
We have had the BEST few days with Matt and Dominique and all their friends and we are so so lucky. Life got pretty tough this morning as we set off in the helicopter (after a shaky start due to bad weather) with Matt as well, coming along for the helicopter ride and now we are sitting in paradise on Craigs island!! We will tell you ALL about the INCREDIBLE helicopter ride and paradise island in our next blog!!!!!!
Missing you all and lots of love xxxxxxx
