Day 13: It's probably a good thing that I'm having the day off today as listening to the dulcet tones of the incredibly ugly hag next door arguing with her equally hideous husband until two this morning didn't exactly make for a peaceful nights sleep. I really could have done with those bears last night! I have just been given a lovely blue chair though by a couple who are flying back to the UK today and they don't have room so not all bad. It's a very lovely chair and it's blue. Awesome! I'm thinking of popping back into Barcelona this afternoon for some motoring based mayhem and to possibly see a few more sights although it is nice not being on the bike. I'll see how I feel after a coffee or seven......... Ok, coffee drunk and a bit of washing done and I'm off back into Barcelona on a bike which seems to handle like a bike again without all that extra baggage strapped to it. I had lunch at a lovely traditional Spanish restaurant. I've not heard of it before but the chicken dish I had was spectacular. Some retired Army Colonel with a white beard started the restaurant and he uses a secret selection of herbs, spices and goose spit. It's a good thing I found it as I'd never find another place like it. It was finger licking good though :-) Off to the Segrada Familia again for another walk round. It's great fun watching the tourists. We're like little lambs casually wandering into a kebab shop and asking what's cooking? I stood for a while then got into a conversation with an Australian couple who were waiting to continue their guided tour. It was nice having someone else who laughed at the American and Japanese tourists as much as me. Their pushy tour guide turned up and started talking to her group about the history of the Segrada Familia then she noticed me casually leaning against the railings. She asked me to move away as I wasn't part of the tour and shouldn't be listening for free. I told her it was ok as I "Don't speak English". I said this last part in English, very slowly and very loudly. Several people in the tour laughed much to her disgust. They left shortly after and she frog marched off with her group to be grumpy somewhere else. I carried on leaning and watching the world go by which was nice. I noticed a dark cloud or two building up in the sky so decided to head back to the campsite. I timed it just right as the heavens opened just behind me. The rain in Spain was most definitely not falling on the plain as it seemed to be concentrating on Barcelona. Back at the campsite I went to the cafe to read my book and catch up on old times with a few of yesterday's mosquito's. While I was there I met Lynda and Scotty (Alan), a pair of Kiwi's who were driving their motorhome around Europe. I think they were just looking for a way to escape but hadn't found one yet. Anyway, they had a few beers then popped off to send a few emails and said they'd be back later. I read a bit more of my book and Scotty arrived a little while later. Lynda was having an alcohol induced snooze so would be along in a bit. I think that means "you won't see her again tonight as she's absolutely gazebo'd" in Kiwi. Anyway, I had a couple of beers and Scotty had a few drinks and also a few for the road. I can only assume the road he was talking about was flooded with beer and he was planning on swimming home. It came as a complete surprise when he mentioned he'd lost his licence a couple of times for drink driving. Who'd have thought it. Anyway, a better nights sleep tonight as the Munsters have gone! There was a bit of laughing, giggling and oohing and aaghing from the two girls in the tent next to me but they must have been watching some Spanish comedy programme or something on the telly. Can't imagine they'd have been doing anything else. Off again tomorrow so bed time and hopefully some much needed sleep.
