Hey everyone!
I am back to tell you about what my friends and I did this weekend. This weekend we all went to Athlone, which is more on the country side of Ireland. We took a train from Dubin to Athlone, and the ride was about a little over an hour long. Our train left at 11:10 am, so we left our apartments around 9:15 and we had to catch the DART into Dublin and then get on the another form of public transportation called the LUAS, which is kind of like the DART except the LUAS goes around on tracks in the streets of Dublin pretty much. It is relatively new to Dublin, so we were excited to ride on it for the first time. We took the LUAS to the train station. We got in line about 45 minutes before we were going to start boarding the train. We didn't get on the plane until it was close to 11 and I thought we would've boarded a lot sooner than that because we were pretty close to the front of the line, and there were a lot of people behind us, but it didn't take long for everyone to board at all. We didn't have to wait very long for the train to start moving either, which is nice.
We found out about Athlone because my roommate Jordan her Uncle Tony is from Athlone originally, he lives near Chicago now, but he was in Athlone this past weekend, and Jordan wanted to go see him, and we wanted to go with her, because we wanted to see another part of Ireland. Tony has been really generous to us because when we first got here we all had take turns using internet because it was broadband, and we couldn't all be on it at the same time if we wanted to, so Jordan asked her uncle if he could get us wireless internet routers while he was still in the states, so he got us the wireless for us, and he got us a place to stay at this past weekend. We checked in at the bed and breakfast that Tony got for us, and we settled in, in our really nice apartments. Then me and few of the girls went shopping for a little bit.
There was a castle in Athlone that we all really wanted to see, so we all went to see the castle together, and took pictures of the town, River Shannon, and took pictures of the castle. Then we met up with Tony at a pub nearby where we were talking pictures down by River Shannon. Then we ate dinner with him after that and we bought it for him since we got us the wireless and a place to stay. Then after dinner we went back to our apartments and we got ready to go to another pub later on, that was gonna have some people playing music.
