The journey to kudat started on the local bus which to say the least was a little scary and a little shabby. Somehow it took 4 hours to get to Kudat despite the driver driving like a lunatic *laugh*. On arrival in Kudat I couldn't believe how friendly everyone was, I had forgotten how nice people in Borneo were as someone not only gave me directions but actually walked me to the pick up!
Howard (owner of Tampat Do Aman) came and collected me in his truck as the jungle lodge is about 15 km outside of Kudat at the tip of Borneo. He showed me round the lodge where I said hello to Matt (busy working away) and he then took me down to the restaurant (Tip Top restaurant right next to the beach). The do the nicest juice in the restaurant, all fresh fruit blended together with some ice...mmmm going to miss those! I got to meet the friendly ducks and cats at the lodge, one of the cats keeps screaming and one of the ducks sounds like it's an asthmatic that's been smoking 50 a day and apparently thinks it is a dog!
Matt and I went swimming later on in the afternoon after he had finished work. Well I say swimming, it was more like half drowning in the sea trying to get further in. Bless him doing the gentlemanly thing of trying to break the waves in front of me but at the same time getting swept away and actually knocking me over! The first day has been so far so good, tonight I will sleep well since I am so tired already!
