We arrived in Nazca just before lunchtime and we upgraded to a room! Those tents are a nightmare to put up and I just wanted a bed!
We set up lunch and chilled out on the grass before meeting our guide who was taking us to the Chauchilla cemetery...I hear you ask 'the what?' hmm yes exactly my thoughts and wow it was one freaky place!!
It's a pre-Inca cemetery which was first discovered by grave-robbers and all that was left were the mummies that were buried here...it was freaky! So most of them still had hair, like really long dreadlocks and also had clothing still stuck to them...cringe...it was just bizarre! The reason they are still intact is apparently due to the weather in Nazca. To be honest the cemetery was more like a scene from Pirates of the Caribbean and I just struggled to take it seriously! I'm sure you will see what I mean from the photos!
So after that weird and wonderful afternoon, we headed back to the hotel/campsite ate nachos for dinner and had a well earned early night!
The next day we had breakfast at the hotel because we upgraded to a room ker-ching! brucey! and then headed towards the desert for some sandboarding via the Nazca lines...
The Nazca Lines are a series of ancient geoglyphs located in the desert. They range from simple lines to more complicated drawings like monkeys, birds etc. The view from the tower wasn't amazing but I wasn't taking the dodgy flight to see them properly...apparently they are REALLY dodgy aircrafts...no thankyou!!
So goodbye Nazca and hello sandboarding...
