Capri is just beautiful. We started early and went to Anacapri which is another town above Capri and from there took a chair lift to the top of the island. The chair lift was just that, a single chair attached to a cable going up the mountain. You wouldn't want to be afraid of heights. But the view was marvelous. You got a full three sixty of the island. We had a bit of free time to explore the top and it turned out to be a good thing we started so early. There were masses of people all packed into a very small town.
Our guide took us on a short tour of the rest of the island and then we went down to the docks and jumped on a small boat that took us on a tour around the island. I loved it. The guide was really funny and the scenery was beautiful. I got some really good pictures.
All our guides told us not to do the Blue Grotto as it was over priced and the three minutes you're allowed in the grotto is not worth the long wait to get in. Still as the trip around the island went on and we got closer I was still seriously forking out the extra money for it.
But when the time came, it turned out that the grotto was closed because the water was too choppy to get people in and out safely.
When we got back to shore Bec and I stopped by this gellato place on the docks and were seduced by the works of art they were serving as ice-creams. It was seriously over priced but we enjoyed it. It wasn't just really tasty, it was also fun to get and fun to look at. So money well spent I think.
On the way back to the hotel we stopped by a liquor store and got a bottle of the limoncello creme, which we took to the hotel gardens and sipped with the others as the afternoon went on. That's what a vacation is supposed to be like.
