Hi everyone,
Currently in Krakow Poland and we have had a crazy old time here. We stayed in an awesome hostel and met heaps of cool people - a couple of big nights out!!!
We left the warm weather behind however, certainly much colder here - i had to invest in a wool jacket.
We arrived early in the morning on day one so just had a bit of a wander around the old part of town before the rain set in for the rest of the day.
The next day was an early start before heading out to the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp museum - it was a really harrowing day which was made all the more real by the bleak weather of the day - jandals were really not appropriate footwear at all! Being there really was aa surreal experience - the sheer size of the camps really was unbelievable. In need of a stiff drink back in town we hit the bar at our hostel and spent the night playing Uno and drinking games with a bunch of international travellers.
Day two some of us were nursing hangovers so after a late start we visited Krakow's Wawel Castle - the cathedral was built in the 14th century so its amazingly old, and really beautiful. I spent an hour or so shopping for a warm jacket afer that though. That night we met up with acouple of locals who some guys at our hostel had met and they showed us around the pubs of the Jewish quarter - we ended up at a place decorated by Singer sewing machines where everyone was dancing ballroom styles - anoother fun night.
Today was another sleep in before heading down to the Old Quarter for another wander around the main square.
Tonight i'm heading off for Prague - will be on my own for a week and might get to Bratislava and Vienna before meeting up with the crew again in Salzburg.
Keep the emails coming.
Sarah :)
